Fire Evacuation Trials
A fire evacuation trial is a legal requirement for buildings that have a Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) approved scheme and is the practice run of a building's fire evacuation procedure. It involves simulating a fire emergency to test the effectiveness of the evacuation plan and ensure that all occupants know how to respond.
Do I need to do a Fire Evacuation Trial?
A fire evacuation trial may be required for buildings in New Zealand that have an approved Fire Evacuation Scheme. These trials must be conducted regularly, typically every six months, to ensure that occupants are familiar with the evacuation process and that the plan is effective. This also includes fire warden training to ensure they remain aware of their roles and responsibilities in the event of a fire.
